One of our twelve installation teams travelled to Lister Park in Bradford. As Kompan UK, had invited us to to install wet pour and resin bound rubber mulch safety surfacing.
Both of these safety surfaces are great for parks because they reduce the risk of head injuries and are slip-resistant as well as porous. Allowing visitors to enjoy the play area all year round, whatever the weather.
The play area’s safety surfacing was only one part of a £650,000 development project to update the park for local residents.
Kompan had provided our team with a bespoke design including a roadway, rainbow and other graphics spanning over 1,570m². The safety surfacing we were installing was designed to cover both the toddler and junior areas of the play area.
After the play equipment had been installed our team began work. Our team was careful to ensure that all of the depths covered the Critical Fall Heights of different pieces of equipment to keep children safe as they played.
Each graphic and colour seen in the safety surfacing was hand-laid, with our team leader hand-drawing each element on-site to ensure it matched the original design provided.
In total, our team spent twenty full days at Lister Park completing the install before travelling back to our head office in Burnley.
Since the park’s reopening this summer, this play area has been hugely popular and will be the final host of Bradford Council’s ‘Play In Parks’ event.
